Description
This is a fantastic wilderness DIY drop camp hunt in Colorado, set in an over-the-counter unit. The archery season spans four weeks, with flexible pack-in and pack-out dates. The second and final weeks of the season, after muzzleloader hunting concludes, are the most popular for archers. While hunters need to be patient during the first week of archery season, it’s worth noting that some of the biggest bulls are often taken in the pre-rut, before the cows have gathered. Archery season is arguably the best time to be in the Flat Tops, with great weather and elk actively bugling. It’s also a time when hunters can often enjoy the solitude of the wilderness, as it’s not uncommon to go the entire hunt without encountering other hunters. Each drop camp hunt package is 7 days (1 day for pack-in, 5 days for hunting, and 1 day for pack-out), but hunters can extend their stay for additional days at a rate of $125 per day, per hunter.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a drop camp DIY hunt in Colorado, located in an over-the-counter unit. Archery pack-in and pack-out dates are flexible due to the four-week season. The second and last weeks of the season (after the muzzleloader season ends) are the most popular for archers, though the first week of the archery season can require a patient mindset. However, it’s often during this pre-rut period when some of the biggest bulls are harvested before they’ve gathered the cows. Archery season is the best time of year to hunt in the Flat Tops, with great weather and elk actively bugling. It’s also a time when it’s common to experience a more solitary hunt, as you may not encounter another hunter throughout your entire trip. Drop camp hunt packages are 7 days, including 1 day for pack-in, 5 days of hunting, and 1 day for pack-out. Hunters can extend their stay in the archery drop camps at a rate of $125 per day, per hunter. Discounts are available for non-hunters and children under 13.

Description
The drop camp is the soul of the wilderness outfitter. Not for the faint of heart, this do-it-yourself option was born in the age of the self sufficient hunter. All the hunter needs is the logistics of getting away from the trail-head and the help of a mule’s back getting game and supplies in/out of the deep wilderness. Camp gear has improved over time and modern technology has perfected logistics. However, the experience is mostly unchanged since its birth over a hundred years ago. The outfitter will get you packed into camps, and setup with all the outfitted gear. You do the huntin’, and outfitter will pack the meat and camp.
